Document checklist: what most applications ask for

The exact list depends on the destination, the program and your profile. Your Immigration Counselor gives you the list for your case. These are the documents people most often need to prepare:

  • Passport. Valid, with enough remaining validity and blank pages. Many programs ask for a minimum validity beyond your travel or start date.
  • Passport-size photographs. Taken to the destination's photo specification.
  • CV or resume. Up to date, with your job titles, employers and dates. Our free CV Builder can help.
  • Education documents. Degrees, diplomas and transcripts. Some programs require an education credential assessment.
  • Work experience proof. Employment certificates, reference letters, contracts and payslips.
  • Language test results. Required by some destinations and programs.
  • Police clearance and medical examination. Often requested at a later stage of the process.
  • Proof of funds. Bank statements or similar, where the program asks for them.
  • Civil documents. Marriage and birth certificates for family applications.
  • Travel history. Previous visas and entry or exit records, where relevant.

Send your documents only to a Counselor you have verified. See Verify Your Counselor and our Anti-Fraud Policy.
